Sualkuchi, May 26: A case involving allegations of rape and dowry-related harassment has surfaced in Assam’s Sualkuchi, where a woman has accused her husband, local businessman Hemen Kalita, popularly known as “Boga Paan Dokani”, of subjecting her to physical and mental abuse within months of their marriage.
According to the complaint filed by the woman at Sualkuchi Police Station, she allegedly began facing harassment shortly after the marriage. In her FIR, she claimed that her husband repeatedly subjected her to physical and psychological torture on different grounds.
The complaint also contains serious allegations of sexual assault and dowry-related abuse. The woman alleged that she was subjected to rape and harassment linked to dowry demands during the course of the marriage.
Based on the complaint, Sualkuchi Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the allegations. Police are currently examining the matter and further legal proceedings are expected as the investigation progresses.
The case has drawn attention in the Sualkuchi area due to the nature of the allegations. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the ongoing inquiry.
