Fast-Track Court Frames Charges Against All Accused in Zubeen Garg Death Case, Trial to Begin

Guwahati, May 26: A fast-track court on Tuesday, May 26, framed charges against all accused in the Zubeen Garg death case, marking a significant development as the matter formally moves into the trial stage.

According to officials, the court framed the charges based on the chargesheet previously submitted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). With this step, the court has finalised the legal provisions and allegations under which the proceedings will continue.

The accused against whom charges have been framed include Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Amrit Prava Mahanta, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, Sandipon Garg, Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Borah.

During the hearing, the court examined the materials and documents submitted by the investigating agency before deciding to proceed with the trial against all those named in the case.

Senior advocate Ziaur Kamar, who is associated with the legal proceedings, confirmed that the court had formally framed charges and said the next phase of the case would involve recording witness statements.

According to Kamar, witness examination is scheduled to begin from June 8.

With the completion of the charge-framing process, the case has now entered a new stage, with further hearings and trial proceedings expected to continue in the coming weeks.
