Udalguri-Sonitpur, May 27: As part of the ongoing efforts to eliminate tuberculosis (TB), the Health Department has intensified its 100-day TB eradication campaign across Assam, including Udalguri district, with a series of screening camps being conducted in different locations.
A tuberculosis screening camp was organised at Ghagapara under the Khoirabari Health Block on May 27 as part of the initiative. During the camp, health examinations were conducted by Dr Abu Sayeed of the Mobile Medical Unit. Officials stated that a total of 78 individuals underwent X-ray examinations for TB screening during the programme.
Earlier on Monday, similar screening camps were conducted at Bhutiachang Tea Garden and Hatigarh Tea Garden. At Bhutiachang Tea Garden, 136 people underwent X-ray-based screening, while another 90 individuals were screened at Hatigarh Tea Garden.
Officials said the campaign, which will continue until July, aims to strengthen early detection and treatment efforts in the fight against tuberculosis.
According to figures shared under the programme, a total of 3,471 individuals have so far undergone TB screening through X-ray examinations as part of the ongoing campaign in the district.
