Assam Police Seize Narcotics Worth Rs 2.44 Crore in Barpeta, Heroin and YABA Recovered

Barpeta, May 28: Assam Police on May 28 seized narcotics valued at around Rs 2.44 crore in Barpeta district after intercepting a truck allegedly transporting drugs concealed inside a secret cavity.

Police said the operation was conducted by Barpeta Police based on specific intelligence inputs regarding suspected drug trafficking activities in the district.

During the search operation, officials recovered 671 grams of heroin and 22,000 YABA tablets hidden inside a specially designed compartment in the vehicle.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared details of the seizure on social media platform X, stating that another truck carrying a “special delivery” concealed in a secret cavity had been intercepted before reaching its intended destination.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the trafficking network and identify other individuals linked to the smuggling operation.
