Assam CID Searches BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri’s Residence in Fisheries Recruitment Scam Probe

Morigaon, June 8: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam on Sunday conducted a search operation at the residence of BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri in Morigaon district in connection with an alleged recruitment scam in the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation.

The raid is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in appointments made within the corporation. Officials are examining the recruitment process and related circumstances surrounding several appointments currently under scrutiny.

As part of the probe, the CID has also issued a summons directing Deuri to appear before investigators for questioning. The MLA, who previously served as Chairman of the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation, is considered a key figure in the case, with investigators seeking to determine his role, if any, in the alleged irregularities.

Sources indicated that the CID is intensifying its efforts to ascertain the full extent of the alleged scam and identify all individuals involved. The agency is expected to examine recruitment records, official documents and other materials seized during the investigation.
