Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed a high-level delegation of the European Union to Guwahati and held discussions on expanding cooperation and strengthening ties between India and Europe.
The delegation was led by Herve Delphin as part of the “Team Europe” visit to Assam, which is aimed at exploring collaboration opportunities across a range of strategic sectors.
Sharing details of the interaction on X, the Chief Minister said he exchanged views with the delegation on the advantages Assam can offer in strengthening India-European Union linkages under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We exchanged notes on the advantages Assam can offer in strengthening Indo-EU linkages under the leadership of Adarniya Narendra Modi ji,” Sarma said.
According to the European Union, the visit is focused on identifying opportunities for cooperation in sectors including renewable and green energy, sustainable urban infrastructure, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and electronics manufacturing, tea and agri-food processing, flavours and fragrances, and AYUSH.
During their stay in Assam, members of the delegation are also expected to hold discussions with state officials and business leaders to explore trade and investment prospects and deepen economic cooperation between Assam, the Northeast and European partners.
The visit is expected to provide further momentum to the India-European Union partnership framework while showcasing Assam’s growing significance as an emerging hub for investment, innovation and sustainable development.
