Juria Police arrested an alleged drug peddler and seized suspected heroin during an anti-narcotics operation carried out in Assam’s Nagaon district.
The accused has been identified as Ansarul Haque. According to police sources, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotic substances in the area.
During the search, police recovered a quantity of suspected heroin from the possession of the accused. Following the seizure, Ansarul Haque was taken into custody and is being interrogated.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the source of the contraband and examine whether the accused has links to a larger drug trafficking network.
Officials said the operation forms part of Juria Police’s continuing crackdown on the illegal sale and distribution of narcotic substances in the district.
