Imphal, June 14: Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Sunday congratulated eight artistes from the State who have been chosen for the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards and the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2024-25.
In a post on X on June 14, Singh extended his greetings to Irengbam Nalini Devi, Lourembam Bedabati Devi and Rajkumari Thambalsana Devi, who have been selected for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards 2024-25.
He also congratulated Phuritshabam Debajani Devi, Lukram Tamphamani Singh, Yumnam Bimota Devi, Tongbram Roneld Meetei and Oasis Sougaijam on being chosen for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2024-25.
The former Chief Minister said the artistes had played a significant role in preserving and promoting Manipur’s rich cultural heritage through their dedication, perseverance and artistic excellence.
Singh noted that their contributions have strengthened the State’s distinct cultural identity and inspired younger generations to appreciate and uphold its artistic traditions.
Expressing confidence that the recognition would bring greater national attention to Manipur’s cultural legacy, he said the honours would further encourage appreciation of the State’s contributions to the performing arts and enhance the visibility of its artistic achievements across the country.
