Sribhumi Congress Recommends Suspension of Eight Leaders Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Sribhumi District Congress Committee has recommended the suspension of eight party members, including a Zila Parishad member, for alleged anti-party activities during the previous Assembly elections.

District Congress president Tapas Purkayastha said the district unit has forwarded its recommendation to the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), seeking disciplinary action against the leaders concerned.

Among those against whom action has been proposed are Zila Parishad member Mustak Ahmed and seven office-bearers of the district Congress committee.

According to Purkayastha, the decision was taken during a review meeting held at Indira Bhawan in the presence of the MLAs of Sonai and South Karimganj.

The district leadership alleged that the members concerned had engaged in activities considered detrimental to the interests of the party during the Assembly polls. The recommendations have now been sent to the APCC, which will take a final decision on the proposed disciplinary measures.

Party leaders said the move was intended to uphold organisational discipline and address complaints relating to alleged anti-party activities.
