Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of operations across the state on June 14 and 15, resulting in the arrest of four alleged cadres linked to different insurgent groups and the recovery of arms and other materials, officials said.
In one of the operations conducted on June 15, security personnel apprehended an alleged active cadre of the RPF/PLA holding the self-styled rank of Private. The arrested individual was identified as Thoudam Roshan Meitei, also known as Pibarel, 21, a resident of Sawombung Maniyaiskul under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. He was taken into custody from his residence during a targeted operation.
A day earlier, on June 14, Manipur Police arrested another alleged RPF/PLA cadre from the Naka Check Point at Ngaikhong Khunou in Bishnupur district. The individual, identified as Moirangthem Naresh Singh, alias Thoungamba and Chingsang, 30, was described by police as being involved in extortion activities. Originally from Tuibong Farm Mamang in Churachandpur district, he was currently residing at Project Mayai Leikai in Bishnupur. A Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number MN01AB-2102 was seized during the operation.
In a separate raid on the same day, security forces arrested an alleged active cadre of UNLF (P), identified as Khumukcham Shyamsunder Singh, 54, from Chinga Mathak Nameirakpam Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. He was apprehended from his residence, and security personnel recovered a 9mm pistol along with a magazine from his possession.
Another operation led to the arrest of an alleged active cadre of the NRFM from the Yaripok Lamlai crossing area under Andro Police Station in Imphal East district. The arrested person was identified as Ningthoujam Premkumar Singh, also known as Punsirol and Ibungo, 35, a resident of Keibul Mayai Leikai under Keibul Lamjao Police Station in Bishnupur district.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the specific roles or activities of the arrested individuals. Officials said investigations are ongoing and further legal proceedings are being pursued in connection with the cases.
