A candid exchange between Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and singer-songwriter Reble at the Hello Meghalaya Awards on June 20 turned into a message of inspiration for young people and aspiring musicians across the state.
Addressing the audience, Sangma described Reble as a role model for Meghalaya’s youth and music fraternity. Calling himself a fan, the Chief Minister said he had the privilege of asking a question and remarked that the artiste had captured the imagination of people across the country and emerged as an icon for many young individuals. He then asked Reble to share a message for the youth of Meghalaya and upcoming musicians.
In response, Reble spoke about the abundance of talent in the state and encouraged young people to believe in themselves and their abilities. The singer said Meghalaya possesses a unique creative environment and noted that many young people may not fully appreciate how special it is because they have grown up within it.
Emphasising the importance of taking local talent beyond the state, Reble urged aspiring artistes to showcase their abilities to a wider audience and have confidence in their potential.
“You guys are so good. You have no idea how good you are, and you really need to believe that,” the artiste said, drawing applause from the audience.
The remarks resonated strongly with young attendees and members of the music community present at the event.
Earlier, Sangma had shared a video featuring Reble on social media, describing it as a “Fan moment 😊 with Reble” and praising the artiste as a source of inspiration for musicians and youth alike. The interaction at the awards ceremony reinforced that message, with both the Chief Minister and Reble highlighting the immense potential of Meghalaya’s young talent and the need to present it to the world.
