Guwahati, June 24: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has appointed former Assam cricketer Anshuman Bhagawati as its Cricket Strategy and Technical Consultant for a three-year term.
Bhagawati represented Assam in First-Class and List A cricket between the 1994–95 and 1998–99 domestic seasons. He also captained the Assam Under-16 team that won the Vijay Merchant Trophy in the 1994–95 season, a landmark achievement in the state’s junior cricket history.
After retiring from competitive cricket, Bhagawati moved into coaching and cricket development, focusing on player growth and grassroots programmes. He has since been actively involved in mentoring young cricketers and strengthening developmental structures within the sport.
He also contributed to cricket development initiatives in the United Kingdom, where he worked with aspiring players and helped establish the City Cricket Academy in Leicester to provide structured coaching and long-term player development opportunities.
According to the ACA, Bhagawati’s experience in both Indian and international cricket development systems is expected to strengthen the association’s long-term strategic planning and improve technical standards across age-group and senior cricket in Assam.
The appointment will remain effective for a period of three years.
