Itanagar, June 26: Arunachal Pradesh Police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 29 vials of suspected heroin along with Rs 17,680 in cash after busting a suspected narcotics supply network operating from Senki Park in Itanagar.
The operation was conducted by Niti Vihar Police Station with support from the Special Action Team (SAT) following specific intelligence inputs regarding heroin trafficking in the area. Acting on the information, police launched a coordinated search operation under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
During the initial raid, police arrested 29-year-old Johnson Dulom from Senki Park after searching his residence. Officers recovered 12 plastic vials containing around 15 grams of suspected heroin, including the weight of the containers, along with Rs 13,100 in cash, which is suspected to be proceeds from illegal drug sales. The search was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and a gazetted officer.
Based on information provided during interrogation, Dulom allegedly identified his supplier, leading investigators to conduct a follow-up operation. Acting on the lead, SAT personnel intercepted another suspect, Duri Dakpe, along NH-415 near 6 Kilo in Itanagar.
A search of Dakpe’s Honda Dio scooter resulted in the recovery of 17 plastic vials of suspected heroin and Rs 4,580 in cash, also believed to be linked to narcotics trafficking activities.
In total, police seized 29 plastic vials of suspected heroin and Rs 17,680 in cash during the coordinated operation.
A case has been registered at Niti Vihar Police Station under Sections 21(b) and 27A of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider network and identify others involved in the drug trade.
