Itanagar, June 28: A body recovered from the Ranganadi River at Hawa Camp in Kimin is suspected to be that of one of the five people who went missing after a cloudburst struck the NEEPCO Colony near Possa village in Keyi Panyor district on June 24.
If confirmed, it would be the third body recovered since the disaster. Two bodies had earlier been recovered, while three people remained missing following the flash flood triggered by the cloudburst.
Search and rescue operations have been continuing in the affected areas, with teams working to trace the remaining missing persons despite challenging conditions.
The National Disaster Response Force, along with the district administration and police, has deployed specialised equipment, boats and canine squads to support the operation. Rescue efforts have been hampered by hilly terrain, large volumes of debris and adverse weather conditions.
Heavy and continuous rainfall persisted across the state on Saturday, including in the capital, Itanagar, further complicating the ongoing search operation.
Authorities are yet to officially confirm the identity of the body recovered from the Ranganadi River.
