Grenade Thrown at Railway Project Near Assam–Nagaland Border Fails to Explode, Investigation Underway

Guwahati/Kohima, June 30: A grenade was allegedly thrown at an under-construction railway project along the Assam–Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong district, but the device failed to explode, averting any casualties or damage, officials said on Tuesday, June 30.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon at Rongaphar Siding in the Dhansiri area, where railway construction work is currently underway.

Officials said the explosive device landed at the construction site but did not detonate. As a result, no workers were injured and the railway infrastructure remained undamaged.

Soon after the incident, police personnel reached the location and initiated an investigation into the attempted attack. Authorities are examining the circumstances under which the grenade was hurled and are making efforts to identify those responsible.

Security agencies have not yet indicated any possible motive behind the incident. The investigation is continuing.
