Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Ministers Susanta Borgohain and Keshab Mahanta visited flood-affected areas along the Chakrang River in Gohpur on June 30 to assess the impact of rising water levels.
During the visit, the ministers inspected the affected locations and took stock of the damage caused by flooding and riverbank erosion, while reviewing the situation faced by local residents.
They subsequently held a review meeting with officials of the district administration and the Water Resources Department to evaluate the ongoing response and preparedness measures in the region.
The ministers instructed the concerned departments to take immediate steps to strengthen flood management, intensify anti-erosion works and ensure that relief materials and assistance reach all affected families without delay.
The visit forms part of the Assam government’s continuing efforts to closely monitor the flood situation and reinforce relief, rehabilitation and mitigation measures in vulnerable areas across the state.
