Orang Police Seize Nearly 34 kg of Suspected Ganja, Impound Vehicle

Udalguri, June 30: Orang Police recovered 33.870 kg of suspected ganja and seized a vehicle during an anti-narcotics operation carried out in the Nilamari area of Assam’s Udalguri district.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge Manoj Kumar Das, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Mousumi Chakraborty and Routa Circle Officer Utpal Sharma, conducted the raid. The operation was assisted by Sub-Inspector Jitumoni Kalita, Lance Naik Biswajit Sutradhar, Woman Constable Banita Nath and Home Guard Manik Chandra Dei.

During the search, officers recovered the suspected cannabis and impounded a Honda four-wheeler bearing registration number AS01BJ 4584, which was allegedly used to transport the contraband.

Police registered Orang Police Station Case No. 23/26 under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C) and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and initiated further investigation into the case.

The seizure marked the second major anti-drug operation conducted by Orang Police within a month. Earlier in June, the police had recovered 286 kg of suspected cannabis during a raid in the Dhansirighat area.

The latest operation drew appreciation from local residents and the Orang Journalists’ Association, which commended the police for their sustained efforts to curb the illegal narcotics trade in the region.
