CRPF Personnel Rescue Two Civilians After Car Nearly Plunges into Gorge on NH-2 in Manipur

Personnel of the 112 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rescued two civilians after their car skidded to the edge of a deep gorge along National Highway-2 in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, preventing a potentially fatal accident.

The incident took place at around 7:30 pm on June 30 near Changoubung village, where road construction work is currently in progress. According to reports, an A-Star car lost control, veered off the highway and came to rest precariously on the unstable edge of a steep gorge, narrowly avoiding a plunge into the valley below.

The CRPF personnel, who were returning after completing deployment duties between Changoubung and T. Khullen, spotted the stranded vehicle and immediately rushed to the scene to assist.

Using ropes, coordinated teamwork and physical effort, the jawans carried out a rescue operation to stabilise the vehicle and stop it from sliding further towards the gorge. They successfully pulled the car back onto the road and safely rescued both occupants.

The rescued individuals were identified as Leishiyo Naga and another resident of Senapati district. Both suffered only minor injuries, while the vehicle was recovered without further damage.

The prompt response by the CRPF averted a major tragedy and reflected the force’s commitment to ensuring public safety and extending humanitarian assistance beyond its regular law and order duties.
