Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on July 1 reiterated the state government’s resolve to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse through coordinated and sustained action after holding a review meeting with senior officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at the State Secretariat in Imphal.
The meeting was attended by R. Sudhakar, IPS, Deputy Director General (Northeast Region) of the NCB, and P. K. Mishra, Additional Director of the NCB. The discussions centred on strengthening Manipur’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign and improving the overall strategy to tackle the drug menace.
Sharing details of the meeting on X, the Chief Minister said the deliberations focused on enhancing intelligence collection, improving coordination between state and central enforcement agencies, and reinforcing cooperation with international agencies to curb drug trafficking.
The officials also reviewed the implementation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, with particular emphasis on strengthening enforcement measures to disrupt the illegal drug trade.
“The government remains firmly committed to eliminating the drug menace through coordinated and sustained efforts,” Singh said, reaffirming the administration’s determination to intensify its fight against narcotics in the state.
