A man lost his life after being attacked by a wild elephant in Kamakhya village under Kaliabor, with the animal reportedly straying out of the nearby Kamakhya Reserved Forest.
The deceased has been identified as Jiten Gour. According to reports, he was travelling along the road connecting Kamakhya village to the Kamakhya Temple to open his shop when the elephant suddenly attacked him.
The impact of the attack proved fatal, and Gour died at the scene.
Police personnel arrived at the location shortly after the incident and initiated the necessary formalities.
Meanwhile, local residents expressed dissatisfaction over the response of the Forest Department, alleging that although the attack occurred during the night, forest officials did not reach the spot for a considerable period after the incident.
