Arunachal Minister Ojing Tasing Calls for Flexible Approach to Strengthen Panchayati Raj Reforms

Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing has called for a more collaborative and adaptable framework for implementing rural governance reforms, saying policy flexibility is essential to address the diverse challenges faced by different regions across the country.

Speaking at the national workshop of State Panchayati Raj Ministers on July 3, Tasing stressed that governance reforms should be implemented in a manner that accommodates local conditions, particularly in geographically remote and diverse states such as Arunachal Pradesh. He said a flexible implementation strategy would enable reforms to better meet the specific needs of individual regions.

The workshop was chaired by Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, and brought together Panchayati Raj ministers from several states to deliberate on strengthening grassroots governance.

During the discussions, Tasing underlined the need for closer cooperation between the Centre and the states to improve the functioning of rural governance institutions. He said development initiatives in rural areas should be designed with local realities in mind to ensure that they produce meaningful and lasting results.

The minister further observed that decentralised governance supported by coordinated policymaking and implementation flexibility would strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions, improve the delivery of public services and contribute to faster and more sustainable rural development across the country.
