Imphal, July 5: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday published the draft electoral roll for Manipur after completing the Enumeration Phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, with more than 19.34 lakh eligible electors participating in the exercise.
According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, the enumeration process was conducted from May 30 to June 28. Out of 20,93,076 potential electors, 19,34,399 submitted their enumeration forms, resulting in a response rate of 92.42 per cent.
The revision exercise identified 43,000 deceased electors, accounting for 2.06 per cent of the total. It also recorded 1,08,283 electors, or 5.17 per cent, who had shifted residence, were unavailable or fell under other specified categories. In addition, officials detected 7,394 duplicate registrations, representing 0.35 per cent of the electorate, with the Commission stating that these entries would be retained at only one location.
The SIR exercise was carried out across all 16 districts through a network comprising 60 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 84 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 317 Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors and 2,956 Booth Level Officers.
The CEO’s office said that 10 recognised political parties participated in the revision process. It also noted that the number of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) increased from 5,003 to 6,363, which, according to the Commission, reflects enhanced political participation and greater transparency during the exercise.
Special arrangements were made for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), with District Nodal Officers facilitating their participation in the electoral revision process.
The Election Commission has invited citizens who turned 18 years of age on or before July 1, 2026, to apply for enrolment in the electoral roll by submitting Form 6.
To improve voter accessibility, the Commission has increased the number of polling stations in the state from 2,956 to 3,041, ensuring that no polling station has more than 1,200 electors.
The claims and objections period will remain open from July 5 to August 4. During this time, voters can seek inclusion, correction or deletion of entries by contacting Booth Level Officers, Electoral Registration Officers or by using the Voters Service Portal and the ECINET mobile application.
The Commission said all claims and objections will be disposed of by September 2, following which the final electoral roll will be published on September 6.
