The Tripura Government’s Education (School) Department has directed all schools in the state to begin the academic day with the full version of the National Song, Vande Mataram, followed immediately by the National Anthem, Jan-Gana-Mana.
According to a notification issued on July 3, the decision was taken in accordance with directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 28, 2026, regarding the respect, decorum and official rendition of the National Song.
The order will apply to all government, government-aided and privately managed schools, including government-aided and unaided recognised madrassa schools across the state.
The Education Department said the initiative aims to promote national integration, foster patriotism among students and ensure uniform observance of protocols relating to national symbols. Under the revised daily routine, schools will begin with the community singing of the full version of Vande Mataram, followed by the National Anthem.
The notification also instructed that whenever the National Song is sung or played, all students, teachers and administrative staff must stand at attention as a mark of respect and in accordance with the prescribed protocol.
The decision was approved by the Tripura Council of Ministers on June 25, 2026. The notification, signed by Additional Secretary Rajib Datta, came into effect on July 3, 2026.
