Assam Police Arrest Four Alleged Gamblers in Nagarbera, Seize Cash and Mobile Phones

GUWAHATI: Assam Police arrested four alleged gamblers during a raid at Khameri in the Nagarbera area and seized cash along with mobile phones as part of an ongoing anti-gambling drive.

The arrested persons were identified as Monowar Hussain, Golap Ali, Shahjahan Ali and Amjad Ali. During the operation, police recovered ₹34,840 in cash and five mobile phones, which are suspected to have been used in connection with the gambling activities.

The action came amid intensified enforcement against illegal gambling across Assam. In recent weeks, police have carried out frequent raids on gambling dens in several districts, with gambling-related cases being reported almost every day from different parts of the state.

Police registered a case against the four accused under the relevant legal provisions. Investigators are examining whether the arrested individuals were linked to a wider gambling network and are trying to identify any other persons involved.

Officials said the crackdown on illegal gambling will continue across Assam as part of efforts to curb unlawful betting activities and maintain law and order.
