Jagiroad: A joyful milestone turned into a nightmare for two brothers from Barpeta when their very first trip in a newly purchased truck ended in tragedy. Both lost their lives after the vehicle crashed and caught fire on National Highway 27 near Jagiroad.
The ill-fated Bolero Max pickup truck (AS-15AC-9919) was reportedly on its way from Barpeta Road to Silchar, carrying a load of vegetables. According to initial reports, the vehicle was moving at high speed when it slammed into a road divider. Moments later, a suspected mechanical failure caused it to burst into flames, trapping the two men inside.
Despite the quick response from Jagiroad police and emergency services, the fire had already engulfed the truck, leaving rescuers helpless. When the flames were finally doused, only the charred remains of the victims were found inside the wreckage.
The deceased have been identified as Rohij Ali and Bachchu Ali, both residents of Naligaon village in Barpeta district. Locals described the brothers as hardworking and hopeful, having recently purchased the truck to start their own business.
Police have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze and whether overspeeding or a technical fault led to the fatal crash. The incident has left the community in deep grief, mourning the heartbreaking loss of two young lives cut short before their journey could even begin.
