Two Militants Arrested in Separate Security Operations Across Manipur

Imphal, July 17: Manipur Police and security forces arrested two suspected militants in separate operations conducted in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts on Wednesday as part of the ongoing crackdown on insurgent activities in the state.

In the first operation, security personnel apprehended an alleged cadre of the Manipur Peoples Defence Force (MPDF), Khundrakpam Boynao Meitei (25), a resident of Khangabok Leipat Leikai in Thoubal district. He was arrested from the Ningthoukhong Loktak Project area in Bishnupur district.

Police recovered a .32 calibre pistol with a magazine containing five live rounds from his possession. Officials also seized Rs 1 lakh in cash during the operation.

In another operation, security forces arrested an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), or KCP (PWG), identified as Tourangbam David Singh, alias Sanamba (24). He was taken into custody from his residence at Wangjing Bazar Lamding Laishram Leikai under Thoubal Police Station in Thoubal district.

According to police, both arrests were carried out during ongoing operations targeting insurgent groups active in Manipur. Investigators are continuing to examine the activities and network of the arrested militants as part of the probe.
