Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar, an IPS officer, was found dead inside his office chamber at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Agartala on Monday, July 20, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.
According to preliminary information, Dhankar was found hanging inside his office. He was subsequently taken to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital in Agartala, where further procedures are underway.
Senior police officials reached the spot after the incident, while the area was secured as authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.
The exact cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination. Police had not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
