Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, July 26, said the state government was continuing efforts to restore electricity supply across flood-affected districts as the state gradually recovered from the recent deluge.
In a post on X, Sarma said power restoration was being carried out in phases after electricity supply was precautionarily suspended during the floods to protect public safety.
He said teams from the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) were conducting comprehensive safety inspections before reconnecting electricity in affected areas. Restoration work was underway in Sivasagar, Jorhat, Charaideo, Dhubri and Bongaigaon, among other flood-hit districts.
According to the Chief Minister, the phased approach was aimed at ensuring that power infrastructure affected or damaged by floodwaters was safe for operation before supply was resumed.
“As Assam steadily recovers from the floods, power restoration efforts continue across affected districts,” Sarma said, adding that APDCL personnel were working to restore essential services while adhering to safety protocols.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to restoring essential services at the earliest and helping flood-affected communities return to normal life as recovery operations continued across Assam.
