Tripura Police arrested two persons and seized 38 packets of suspected brown sugar during a joint anti-narcotics operation in Kumarghat under Unakoti district on Sunday.
According to the police, the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs. During the raid, officials intercepted a blue Renault Duster bearing registration number AS-03-AD-4875 and conducted a thorough search of the vehicle.
The search led to the recovery of 38 packets (koutas) containing suspected brown sugar. The two occupants of the vehicle, identified as Rajesh Das (41) and Sajal Das (45), were taken into custody.
Officials from Kumarghat Police Station and the Duty Magistrate (DCM), Kumarghat, were present during the operation as the required legal formalities were completed.
Police said the seized contraband is being weighed and tested, while seizure procedures are underway. A case is being registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is in progress.
