Sualkuchi, July 27: A special event organised by news portal Spostobad Assam was held at Binodini Village Resort in Sualkuchi on Sunday to encourage students and honour individuals for their contributions to society. The programme paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the recent floods in Assam.
Renowned flautist Nikunja Pathak received the title ‘Bansi Samrat’, while Charu Das was felicitated as an ‘Adarsha Matri’ and Assamese film producer Hemanta Kalita was honoured for his contribution to Assamese culture and cinema.
The programme was attended by OSD to the Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Choudhury, Hajo-Sualkuchi MLA Prakash Chandra Das, Sualkuchi Zilla Parishad member Dhiraj Mahanta and senior journalist Digjyoti Lahkar, who appreciated the initiative. A cultural programme featuring songs, dances and poetry recitations by local students concluded the event.
