Manipur Police Arrest Four Militants from Three Banned Outfits in Separate Operations

Imphal, August 1: Manipur Police arrested four militants belonging to three proscribed insurgent organisations in separate operations conducted across Imphal West, Imphal East and Tengnoupal districts, officials said on August 1.

In Imphal West district, police arrested an alleged member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), identified as Khunthoklemba Oinam (30), for his suspected involvement in a hand grenade attack on a house at Yumnam Leikai on July 28, an official said.

In a separate operation carried out on Friday, security forces apprehended a cadre of PREPAK (PRO), identified as Ningthoujam Nanao Meitei (41), from Imphal East district.

Meanwhile, two members of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) were arrested near the India-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district on Thursday, police said.

Police said further investigation into all the cases is underway.
