A truck transporting flood relief materials met with an accident in Assam’s Sivasagar district on August 1 while carrying essential supplies to flood-affected areas, causing a temporary disruption in relief operations.
The vehicle, loaded with food items, was travelling towards Banmukh via Bikrampur Chariali when the accident took place. Authorities did not immediately disclose the cause of the accident or confirm whether anyone was injured.
Following the mishap, local residents quickly stepped in to salvage the relief supplies. As floodwaters had affected road connectivity, villagers used boats to recover the food materials from the accident site, ensuring the consignment could still reach affected communities.
The accident occurred at a time when relief and rehabilitation efforts remain underway across flood-hit parts of Sivasagar, where food and other essential supplies continue to be transported through multiple routes to support residents affected by the floods.
