VPP to March to Meghalaya Secretariat on August 6 Over Public Issues

Shillong, Aug 2: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) will organise a march to the Meghalaya Main Secretariat on August 6 to press the state government to address 10 key public issues, party president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit announced.

Basaiawmoit said the proposed march was intended to reflect the growing frustration and anger among people over issues that the party has highlighted during public meetings held across the state.

He said the VPP had travelled to various parts of Meghalaya to raise awareness about the reasons behind the agitation and to engage with the public on the concerns it plans to take up with the government.

According to the VPP president, the party has identified 10 major issues and has already placed them before the public through meetings and interactions with the media.

Urging the government to take the proposed demonstration seriously, Basaiawmoit said the march should serve as a warning that public grievances cannot be ignored. He said the party could intensify its agitation if the government remained indifferent to the concerns raised by the people.

At the same time, he clarified that the protest would be peaceful and was not intended to create law-and-order problems or inconvenience the public.

The VPP is expected to mobilise party workers and supporters for the march as it seeks a response from the state government on the issues highlighted by the party.
