Guwahati, Aug 2: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday urged residents to participate in the Census 2027 online self-enumeration exercise, which commenced across the state, and appealed to citizens to submit accurate information while completing their details through the official portal.
The chief minister also completed his own self-enumeration and encouraged people to take part in the nationwide exercise.
In a post on social media, Sarma said the online self-enumeration process allows residents to complete the exercise from the comfort of their homes. He urged everyone to fill in their details correctly and contribute to the successful conduct of the census.
In a video message, the chief minister appealed to citizens to provide accurate information and fulfil their responsibility by participating in the Census 2027 exercise.
The online self-enumeration facility will remain available from August 2 to August 16 through the official Census self-enumeration portal, enabling residents to digitally submit household and individual information.
According to officials, the House Listing Operations (HLO) and Housing Census will be carried out from August 17 to September 15 after the completion of the online self-enumeration phase.
The census exercise, however, has been deferred in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts, the two worst-affected districts in the ongoing floods, due to the prevailing situation.
The self-enumeration initiative forms part of the preparations for Census 2027, allowing citizens to complete the initial stage of the enumeration process online before field verification begins.
