Police seized a large consignment of foreign liquor and arrested three alleged smugglers during an operation at Kalainchara in Assam’s Cachar district.
According to police, the liquor was recovered from a truck intercepted during the operation. The vehicle was subsequently seized along with the contraband.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sandhyaram Debbarma, Katrajaya Debbarma and Denia Reng.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the consignment was allegedly being transported illegally to neighbouring Mizoram.
Police have registered a case in connection with the seizure and are continuing the investigation to trace the source of the liquor consignment and identify other individuals who may be part of the alleged smuggling network.
