GUWAHATI, Aug 7: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu assured regularised teachers who were previously serving on contract under Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA) that there is no issue with their salaries and that the delay in payment this month is only temporary.
The assurance came after Pegu held a meeting with representatives of the SRD Teachers’ Welfare Forum and the All Assam Primary Teachers’ Association to discuss concerns raised by teachers regularised through the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD).
The minister said the teachers would receive their salaries within the next two days, attributing the delay to ongoing financial reforms in the treasury payment system.
He explained that salary disbursement has shifted to the FinAssam portal following the reforms. While teachers previously received their salaries through their respective district treasuries, this month’s payments will be processed through the Dispur Treasury under the revised system.
Pegu clarified that there has been no change in the salary head or service conditions of the regularised teachers and said they would continue to enjoy all benefits available to regular government employees.
He urged teachers not to worry, describing the delay as a one-time issue arising from procedural changes in the financial system. The minister added that future salaries, pay slips and other service-related processes would continue to be handled through FinAssam, with salaries credited through the treasury as usual.
