DULIAJAN, Aug. 8: Duliajan-based researcher Dr Asmita Tamuli has earned a PhD from Dibrugarh University for her research on customer attrition in queueing systems, marking an academic achievement in applied statistics and mathematical modelling.
Dr Tamuli was awarded the doctorate for her thesis, “A Ubiquitous Customer Attrition in Queueing Systems and Some Related Aspects: A Statistical Investigation.” The study examined customer departure or attrition in queueing systems and related statistical and mathematical aspects through analytical models.
The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr Dhruva Das, Professor in the Department of Statistics at Dibrugarh University. Dr Tamuli developed and analysed mathematical models to examine advanced queueing systems and factors associated with customer attrition.
Queueing theory is applied to systems where customers or entities wait for services. Her research sought to strengthen the mathematical understanding of such systems and their management.
Dr Tamuli had earlier secured a Gold Medal in MSc Statistics from Dibrugarh University and received the INSPIRE Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
She is the younger daughter of late Chandra Tamuli, former secretary of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), and Jyotirekha Saikia Tamuli, headmistress of Missamari Primary School.
