UDALGURI-SONITPUR, Aug. 9: The Orang Traders’ Association, along with local traders and social workers, launched a special cleanliness and sanitation drive at Orang Chariali ahead of Independence Day.
The drive was conducted on August 8 and 9 under the 47-Mazbat Legislative Assembly Constituency in Udalguri district as part of preparations for the Independence Day celebrations.
Orang Traders’ Association president Tikaram Sharma, vice-presidents Swapan Choudhury and Pankaj Deka, secretary Manas Deka, senior journalist Naba Kumar Deka and several traders and social workers participated in the campaign.
The participants used brooms, spades and other cleaning tools to remove accumulated waste from the Chariali area.
The organisers said the initiative aimed not only to clean the area but also to create awareness among residents about sanitation, cleanliness and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.
