MORIGAON, Aug. 9: A suspected drug peddler was arrested in Jagiroad with 21.97 grams of heroin, according to reports.
The arrested person was identified as Abhijit Majumdar of Sonapur. Police recovered 18 containers allegedly containing heroin from his possession during the operation.
The seizure came amid intensified action against drug trafficking across Assam, with police and security agencies conducting raids and arrests targeting suspected peddlers and traffickers.
Authorities have stepped up surveillance and enforcement operations in several districts to curb the circulation of narcotic substances, including heroin and other synthetic and pharmaceutical drugs.
Further investigation into the Jagiroad case is underway to determine the source of the seized contraband and whether the accused has links to a wider drug trafficking network.
