SONAPUR, Aug. 9: The Frontier Headquarters, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Guwahati and 01 Battalion, SSB, Sonapur jointly organised a mini marathon and patriotic run in Sonapur on Sunday as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of Independence Day.
Held under the guidance of Inspector General Sudhir Verma, Frontier Headquarters SSB Guwahati, the event began from the premises of 01 Battalion, SSB, Sonapur. Commandant Sunil Kaushik flagged off the run.
Students of Sonapur College, members of the Sports Association Sonapur, residents of Borkhat village and local citizens participated in the event along with officers and personnel of the SSB, despite inclement weather.
The event aimed to promote patriotism, national unity, discipline and healthy lifestyles among SSB personnel and civilians while spreading awareness about the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The winners securing the first, second and third positions were felicitated with medals and mementoes by Kaushik, who praised the participants and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence.
Commandant (Medical) Dr Rinku Dey, Commandant (Communication) Rakesh Chandra, Commandant (Operations) M K S Munda and other officers and personnel of the SSB were present.
The programme concluded with an atmosphere of enthusiasm, discipline and community participation.
