Police recovered 15 live rounds of ammunition from a youth during an operation at a mobile accessories shop in Assam’s Sribhumi district on the eve of Independence Day.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the shop and detained Nasel Ahmed, son of Farid Ali of Biskut village. Police sources said 15 live rounds of 7.5 mm pistol ammunition were recovered from his possession.
Ahmed was taken into custody for questioning as investigators began probing the source of the ammunition and the purpose for which it was allegedly procured.
Police are also examining whether other individuals or a wider network may be linked to the recovery. The seizure of live ammunition ahead of Independence Day has raised concern in the area, with the investigation continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
