Unidentified Man Found Dead by Roadside in Dibrugarh, Police Probe Underway

Dibrugarh, August 15: An unidentified man was found dead by the roadside at Betoni village under Tingkhong Police Station in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Saturday, triggering tension in the area.

A local village defence party office-bearer spotted the body in the morning and informed the police.

According to local residents, the deceased had visible injury marks on his head and face, raising suspicion that he may have been murdered. A syringe, a reddish curtain-like piece of cloth and another piece of cloth tied like a rope were reportedly found near the body.

The body had also started emitting a foul smell, prompting a preliminary suspicion that the incident may have occurred the previous night.

Locals suspect that miscreants may have killed the man elsewhere and dumped his body along the deserted roadside under the cover of darkness. However, the circumstances surrounding the death have not yet been established.

Tingkhong Police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

The identity of the deceased and the exact cause of death are yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
