Hagrama Mohilary Confirms BPF’s Alliance with NDA, Begins Preparations for 2026 Polls

Kokrajhar: Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) Chief and Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Hagrama Mohilary, has confirmed that his party will continue working with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to ensure sustained development in the Bodoland region.

Speaking to reporters, Mohilary said, “BPF has always prioritised the development of BTC. If we want to see real progress, we must work in cooperation with the government. That’s why we have decided to move forward with the NDA.”

When asked if the BPF aims to play the role of a kingmaker in the coming years, he responded with confidence, “Kingmaker or not — we will see in the 2026 elections. I will begin preparations for the polls from December.”

Commenting on the recent induction of Mazbat MLA Charan Boro as Assam’s new Transport Minister, Mohilary described it as a reflection of the renewed partnership between the BPF and the ruling alliance. “We are partners now, so we have got a minister’s chair. Similarly, we have given two Executive Member (EM) posts and the Deputy Speaker’s position to the BJP. It’s all about give and take,” he said.

Adding a light-hearted note, the BPF chief remarked, “You all don’t know — we in the BPF know how to give and also how to take. After giving two EMs, do you think I won’t ask for anything? The minister’s chair is not a big deal, but as an NDA partner, we got it. Wait for 2026 — that’s the real thing. We are such people; we will give Rs 1 and take back Rs 2.”

Mohilary’s comments signal a renewed phase of cooperation between the BPF and the NDA in Assam’s political landscape, as the party gears up for the 2026 Assembly elections with a focus on regional growth and political consolidation in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
