Tinsukia, August 16: The Lekhapani Battalion of the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the civil administration, organised the Independence Cup 2026 football tournament at Hasak village in Tinsukia district on August 15 under the theme “No to Drugs, Yes to Football”.
The tournament aimed to promote sports, discipline and healthy engagement among local youth while strengthening ties between the security forces and the community.
Sixteen football clubs from neighbouring villages participated in the tournament, which drew enthusiastic participation from young people and local residents.
CDO Football Club emerged as the champion and lifted the Independence Cup 2026 trophy.
The Assam Rifles felicitated the participating teams and winners for their sporting spirit, teamwork and enthusiastic participation.
