Tripura CM Manik Saha Signals Possible BJP-Tipra Motha Alliance for Village Council Polls

Agartala, August 16: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday indicated that the BJP and Tipra Motha could forge an alliance for the upcoming Village Council elections, saying discussions between the two parties are underway.

Speaking to reporters, Saha said the BJP was holding talks on a possible electoral understanding with Tipra Motha. He noted that the two parties are already alliance partners and said developments during the previous TTAADC election should be treated as a matter of the past.

“Talks are on and I cannot say that it cannot happen,” Saha said, keeping open the possibility of an alliance.

The Chief Minister said the BJP does not walk away from alliances, adding that if a partner chooses to leave an alliance, there is little the party can do.

“There are high chances of an alliance in the Village Council election,” Saha said, indicating that discussions on seat-sharing and other aspects of a possible understanding could continue in the coming days.
