Two Textbooks Released at Dhakuakhana B.Ed. College

Dhakuakhana: Two textbooks authored by educator Sangita Saikia were formally released at Dhakuakhana B.Ed. College on Tuesday, in the presence of faculty members, staff and students of the institution. The books, written in both Assamese and English, have been prepared in accordance with Dibrugarh University’s revised 2026 syllabus for the two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme. The textbooks cover Paper II (BED 30200), Part I (BED 30201) of the third semester. The Assamese book is titled ‘Samajik Linga, Vidyalaya Aru Samaj’, while its English counterpart is titled ‘Gender, School and Society’. The books seek to provide students with syllabus-based academic material in a structured and accessible form.

The books were formally unveiled by Dr Pradeep Chandra Bora, Principal of Dhakuakhana B.Ed. College, at a programme held at the college auditorium. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bora appreciated Saikia’s initiative and said the textbooks would be useful for B.Ed. students, particularly as they have been prepared in accordance with the university’s new curriculum. He also noted that the books could help address the shortage of updated study materials available to students following the introduction of the revised syllabus.

Author Sangita Saikia briefly spoke about the purpose behind writing the books and highlighted the need for quality, curriculum-oriented resources for teacher-education students. Faculty members, college staff and a large number of trainees and students attended the programme. The participants congratulated Saikia on the publication and expressed hope that the books would prove beneficial to students pursuing B.Ed. studies. The programme concluded with appreciation from the college community for the educator’s academic initiative and contribution to teacher education.
