A 35-year-old man was allegedly killed by his brother-in-law during a family dispute at Shiyalmari Char in Assam’s Nalbari district, with police arresting the accused.
The deceased was identified as Johor Uddin, while his brother-in-law Hafizur Rahman was arrested in connection with the killing.
According to preliminary information, Rahman had first married Uddin’s sister, Sajiron Nessa, before marrying another woman. The second marriage had reportedly led to frequent disputes within the family.
Uddin had gone to his sister’s house to inquire about the dispute when Rahman allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring him.
Uddin was taken to Mukalmua Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Mukalmua Police arrested Rahman, identified as the prime accused, and launched an investigation into the circumstances and alleged motive behind the killing.
