Botanical Garden at Madhukuchi Set to Take Shape Soon

Guwahati: Construction of a proposed botanical garden at Madhukuchi under Rangia Sub-District is expected to begin shortly, with the project aimed at conserving the area’s natural resources while creating a new recreational and tourism attraction for local people. Ahead of the proposed construction, Rangia MLA Bhavesh Kalita inspected the identified site at Madhukuchi on Thursday. He was accompanied by Rangia Sub-District Commissioner Nabajit Pathak and officials of the Forest Department. During the inspection, the MLA held discussions with the officials on various aspects of the proposed project, including the suitability of the site, infrastructure requirements, environmental considerations and issues that need to be addressed before construction begins.

The proposed botanical garden is expected to play an important role in preserving the region’s plant diversity and creating greater awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. Besides serving as a green space for residents, the project could also add a new attraction to the tourism landscape of the Rangia area. The development is expected to enhance the overall beauty of Madhukuchi and provide visitors with an opportunity to explore and appreciate the region’s diverse plant life.

MLA Bhavesh Kalita emphasised the need for the project to be implemented in a timely and systematic manner. He said careful planning would be essential to ensure that the garden develops into an attractive, environmentally sustainable and useful public space. Once completed, the botanical garden is expected to benefit local residents while opening up possibilities for nature-based tourism and further environmental initiatives in the area.
