Two masked men allegedly broke into a residence in Dhubri’s Char Main Road area early on Sunday and attacked a family member with a sharp weapon when he tried to resist them, police said.
The incident occurred around 4 am at the residence of Ganesh Dutta. The unidentified duo allegedly entered the premises by scaling a window and broke open the lock of the main iron grill door.
When Bishwanath Mazumdar, a relative of the family, confronted the intruders, they allegedly attacked him with a knife. His cries and the commotion alerted other family members, prompting the duo to flee.
The incident has raised security concerns in the locality as the same residence was allegedly targeted in two other robbery incidents over the past month.
Dhubri Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. No arrests or detentions have been reported so far, while efforts are underway to identify and trace the suspects.
