Tripura Named Best-Performing Small State Under PMFME Scheme

AGARTALA: Tripura has been recognised as the Overall Best-Performing State in the Small State category under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme at the PMFME Conclave 2026 in New Delhi.

The award was presented by Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan at the conclave, held at the India Habitat Centre on August 24 and 25.

The Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission said the recognition highlighted the state’s efforts to promote micro-enterprises and strengthen livelihood opportunities at the grassroots level.

The PMFME Scheme supports micro food-processing enterprises, entrepreneurs, Self-Help Groups and local businesses through formalisation, capacity building, financial assistance and improved market opportunities.

The mission said the award reflected the collective efforts to empower grassroots entrepreneurs and strengthen Tripura’s local food-processing ecosystem.

It added that the recognition would encourage further initiatives aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting inclusive economic growth.
